At the end of 2022, the Biodiversity Forum of the Swiss Academy of Sciences published a special issue on 20 years of activity in Biodiversity Monitoring Switzerland (BDM). The BDM is a monitoring programme of the Federal Office for the Environment (FOEN). It has been collecting standardised data and analysing the development of selected species groups since 2001. The data are used to calculate various indicators and also serve as a basis for scientific evaluations (www.bdm-papers.ch). (www.bdm-papers.ch). We are involved in this programme in various ways and are pleased that this special issue has given us the opportunity to present the work and, in particular, to give a face to the many experts behind the data (Link zum Sonderheft)
